Foundation degrees are relatively new, employment-related qualifications, which people can be study part-time while they are working, and usually take between two and four years to finish. Individuals usually need an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) to study for a foundation degree.
In schools, there are foundation degrees for:
- teaching assistants (Teaching Assistants)
- early years workers (Early Years)
- science technicians (Applied Science)
- careers staff, learning mentors, and education welfare officers (Working with Young People)
