Will I get time off?

Whether or not you can get time off for learning or training depends on what is agreed locally between your union and your school. In some cases, this is a matter of custom and practice; in others, it is set out in a formal learning agreement. To find out more, talk to your UNISON learning rep. or contact your local UNISON office.

You may be entitled to paid time off for a Skills for Life course and/or vocational training if you don't already have a Level 2 qualification. For more details, talk to your union learning rep or see the DirectGov website for Skills for Life qualifications.

Learning Online

You can work towards a Level 2 qualification online for free using the Move-On website which will help you with literacy and numeracy.

learndirect offers a range of online courses though these generally have a charge attached to them.
